Encuentros en una ruptura temporal

What is it?

"Ruptura Temporal" is a  creative residence where artists live together for a week and exchange their practices and knowledge.

Cuerpos que gritan organizes this week-long event, which takes place outside of the city. The team makes an open call for artists interested in participating and proposes a question for the gathering. The invited artists design workshops to share their experiences based on the chosen  question. The  team then organizes a schedule of activities according to the proposals submitted by the artists.

The entire group is responsible for the space’s maintenance, there are designated times for cleaning and cooking included in the schedule. These communal living spaces are essential to the performative research, as it creates an atmosphere of care and community among the group. Through our experience with previous encounters we’ve concluded that this communal experience is the material for performative creation.

The residency's question stems from an annual research conducted by the Cuerpos que gritan team. The team emphasizes on  the unique and important nature of this kind of gathering. The residents' and directors' coexistence and relationships profoundly influence the development of activities and the creation of performative prototypes.

Conditions

Methodology

To better the residency’s process and results, the core team has devised four daily spaces to enable artists to conduct in-depth research: a training, a laboratory, an in situ creation, and a discussion. The participating artists develop these spaces under the guidance of Cuerpos que gritan team.

The resident artists also have additional leisure time to enjoy the location. They are encouraged to document their experience while Cuerpos que gritan keeps an audiovisual record of the gathering.

The directors encourage artists to provide feedback on all processes experienced during the residency. This enables artists to gain insight into their process and contributes to personal growth.

The team documents group and personal reflections to ensure the residency's lasting impact, allowing the information to be revisited in the future.
